David is a Chartered Financial Planner, a Chartered Wealth Manager and Director of rockwealth Edinburgh.
David grew up in Dundee, and graduated from the University of St Andrews with a degree in Economics. In 2004, David started his career in financial services with Bell Lawrie, now RBC Brewin Dolphin, and worked with them for 14 years. Interestingly, David started his career as an investment manager but after working alongside Financial Planners, decided to re-qualify in this area after seeing the real value that can be added for clients. David then worked for Rathbones, and Investec Wealth and Investment for over 4 years, before setting up rockwealth Edinburgh in August 2024.
Through his career, David has advised on all aspects of financial planning including pension and retirement saving strategies, tax efficient structures, the structure of retirement income, inheritance tax planning and protection planning. However, the most important step in this is establishing exactly what clients are looking to achieve, and building a detailed financial plan. David is a firm believer in the value that financial planning can bring to people at all stages of their lives.
Outside of work David is married with two young children. He lives in East Lothian and is trying his hardest to be a keen golfer when time allows.
